Movies that Will Give You Nightmares

Over the last few decades, many movies have been released that have been appreciated by the audience romantic or comedy, drama or science fiction, movies have been a big part of our lives. There are several genres to choose from but there is one that gives its’ audience ‘the chills’, that is, horror. This specific genre takes tremendous efforts to produce a classic horror movie. Many have failed to satisfy their audience but some gave them nightmares for the rest of their lives.

Starting off with the film that was a milestone in the history of horror movie, ‘The Exorcist’. The film set a level that was hard for everyone to reach. This movie will keep you awake at night, even though you might even want to throw up after watching it but this was a major step forward in 1973. 

After this, came another classic movie from Sam Raimi ‘The Evil Dead’. This movie made an incredible buzz in the entertainment field and was successful to make its audience happy or you can say successful to scare them to death. If you ever think of going camping or going on an outdoor adventure, than you might want to watch this movie before you go. 

Towards the end of the millennium, came ‘American Psycho’, which haunted our dreams for a long time. Christian Bale at his best gave us one of the outstanding movies throughout the history. Blending humor and horror, this film came out to be a fantastic hit in 2000.

In 2002, the world was scared by a little girl named Samara, thanks to ‘The Ring’. One of the most successful movies of 2000’s, it managed to grab the attention of millions through its unique plot and great acting. The dialog “you’ll die in seven days” became very popular along with the movie. This movie may somehow make you fear televisions.

 

Then seven years later came ‘Drag me to hell’, and once again Sam Raimi gave another hit. Getting positive feedback from the critics and audience, this movie kept many awake at nights. This movie gave everyone around the world a valuable lesson, which was, not to mess around with old women!

Horror movies can work well with different genres, even comedy, but when you mix horror with psychological thriller, the first movie that pops up in my mind is ‘Black Swan’. This movie will twist your mind in such a way that it would be hard for you to step out the state it will put you in. Black Swan was also an Academy Award nominated movie in 2011and Natalie Portman won the best actress Oscar.

 

If you are a romantic vampire-human relationship kind of movie fan than I have just the right movie for you. If you are thinking of Twilight, then you are wrong because ‘Let Me In’ is the perfect movie for you. This movie shows how a vampire girl falls in love with a human along with her thirst for his blood and the love for him in her heart. If you think that a romantic-horror movie must be fun then you are in for a big surprise. 

Movies are not always fiction, sometimes they can be based on a true story like ‘The Conjuring’. The movie is based on an actual story back in 1930s. You will be surprised to see what it has got that will make you shiver. Since The Conjuring was such a huge success that its’ second part is one of the most anticipated movies of 2016!

If you are a horror movie lover than I recommend you watch all these movies. I guarantee they are worth watching and they might even haunt you in your dreams for a long time.
