There comes a time in every college going student’s life
when all your friends are in separate universities and meeting up with them
becomes more of a challenge than recreation. I have gone through many such
phases of my friends either being out of country or too busy to meet up their
friend who almost always had time to spare. In the midst of having a complexity
break down I, however found solace in TV shows.
The hip conversation starter these days “what TV shows do you follow?” No matter who you are addressing this line always comes in handy. Not only does it kill the awkward silence it also helps build an understanding with the other person. The TV shows these days far from ordinary, they cover each genre with so much variety that it becomes difficult to keep up.
After exploring the cheesy romance genres of Grey’s Anatomy,
Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl I have moved on to some excitement and
suspense. My latest favorite is The
Fall. The story revolves around a string of murders taking place in Belfast
(Northern Ireland) committed by the same person who follows a set path of
targeting young professional females. The lead actors are Gillian Anderson and
Jaime Dornan.
The story is well executed and correctly portrays the mindset
of a serial killer, which some find disturbing but it was absolutely brilliant
to me. The show has managed high rating of 8.2 on IMDb and 100% on rotten
tomatoes. The first season consists of five episodes and a second season has
been approved by the BBC and is expected to be out in November 2014. The show
had me glued to the screen, partly because of the story and good acting and
partly because of Jamie Dornan. It’s not easy to make the audience feel
sympathetic towards a killer but Jamie plays it well.
Sounds interesting. After reading your review, I want to watch it too.
